Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) Project Task Manager

Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a highly qualified Project Task Manager to lead augmented contractor support services for the U.S. Coast Guard’s (USCG) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) Sensors and Electronics Branch (ESD-SEB).

This hybrid leadership position serves as the primary contractor point of contact for the Coast Guard’s Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The Task Manager will manage a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, network administrators, technicians, and logisticians providing depot-level lifecycle engineering support, configuration management, and system availability for the National Automatic Identification System (NAIS).

This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Suffolk, VA.

Responsibilities

Contract & Task Management:

  • Primary Liaison: Act as the main off-site point of contact for the USCG COR regarding technical milestones, schedule tracking, and contract performance.
  • Meeting Representation: Schedule, coordinate, and attend mandatory weekly progress and technical meetings with the COR at C5ISC-Portsmouth or via approved video teleconferencing platforms (e.g., MS Teams).
  • Deliverable Accountability: Ensure the accuracy, completion, and timely electronic submission of all Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documentation, including Weekly Progress Reports, Monthly Progress Reports, Meeting Minutes, systems engineering artifacts, and multiple NAIS engineering reports.
  • Issue Resolution: Remain available via telephone and email during normal working hours to respond to and resolve technical problems or government requests.

Team Leadership & Resource Coordination:

  • Personnel Management: Oversee contract personnel execution across technical domains (Systems Engineering, Network Administration, Logistics, Programming/Analysis, and Technical Writing).
  • Continuity of Support: Maintain contractually mandated staffing levels, ensuring personnel presence during core operational hours (0600–1700 local time), and coordinate with the COR/KO regarding planned absences or qualified key personnel substitutions.
  • Authority Delegation: Establish and align clear workflows with a designated Alternate Project Task Manager to maintain seamless contract operations during any planned absences.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel outside the local commuting area may be required to support engineering efforts or site milestones. All travel requires advance approval from the COR.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
