Experienced Projects Lawyer – PFI/PPP Transactions & Contracts

Join a team of experts and progressive thinkers

We are recruiting for an experienced Projects lawyer to join our commercial and highly respected, growing Commercial and Infrastructure Department, specialising in complex PFI and PPP contract work across multiple sectors: Health, Education, Social Care, Police and Custodial, Fire Service, Leisure and Culture, Housing, Office Accommodation, Highways, and Street Lighting.

About the Role

You’ll work within a specialised PFI/PPP team that advises both the public and private sectors, collaborating with NISA (formerly IPA) and Government Departments on high-profile projects. Your responsibilities will span private finance initiatives (PFI), public-private partnerships (PPP) and outsource arrangements, including:

  • High-value outsourcing and managed services contracts
  • Shared service arrangements, partnerships, and strategic alliances
  • Joint ventures and public sector commercial transformation across the UK and internationally

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead complex PFI/PPP projects and commercial transactions for public and private sector clients
  • Manage existing PFI/PPP contracts, including variations, contractual interpretation, and compliance
  • Provide strategic advice on contract endрия and future service arrangements
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on PFI projects
  • Mentor and develop junior lawyers, while contributing to team growth
  • Engage in business development to expand the practice

Requirements

Successful candidates should possess:

5–7+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)

  • Proven expertise in PFI/PPP contracts for infrastructure (urban development, facilities, maintenance)
  • Practical experience in operational contract management under PFIs/PPPs
  • Understanding of contract expiry handovers and post-PFI service models
  • Teaching/mentoring experience
  • Clear communication, structured reasoning, and consultative client relations skills
  • Strong commercial and technical acumen
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to complex challenges
  • Hardworking, flexible, and organisationally strong
