The chosen candidate will undergo initial induction training as a group and then be deployed onto project work as part of the development support team. They will work closely with internal teams and directly with clients, including working from the client site. The associate will perform productive work throughout most of their placement year and contribute to the success of the ePortal program.

Working in a software development team in a commercial environment on financial software for UK Financial Institutions. The candidate will be part of a technical team developing and supporting incremental banking solutions. The roles will involve liaising with colleagues at all levels including System Designers, System Testers, and subject matter experts.

The candidate will develop a range of technical and professional skills, including:

  • Working in a team through a project lifecycle
  • Coding/scripting
  • Testing

You will be successful in this role if you have:

  • Successful completion of Years 1 and 2 of Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Degree course should be Computer Science or related

Technical Skills

Essential (at least two of the following):

  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Previous programming experience
  • Problem solving and investigative skills
  • Knowledge of basic software engineering concepts
  • An interest in Windows and SQL
  • Able to learn and apply new technologies quickly

Personal Attributes

  • Open to working in a development, test or support environment
  • Self-motivated and have a practical attitude with a desire and aptitude to pick up and develop new skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good customer/telephone manner as will be expected to talk to senior internal stakeholders and clients
  • Problem solving/reasoning skills
  • Has a natural curiosity for technology
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment or as an independent contributor
