Promoting Independence Worker – Full-Time Hybrid Role

About the Role

Nottinghamshire County Council is dedicated to empowering individuals to live their best lives with compassion and care. Our Maximising Independence Service (MIS) is seeking a Passionate Promoting Independence Worker to join our team.

In this rewarding role, you’ll work intensively with individuals aged 17.5 years and over for up to 12 weeks. Using a strengths-focussed approach, you’ll provide information, advice, and short-term support to help people rebuild confidence, daily living skills, and long-term independence.

As part of the earthquake response team, your role is critical in enabling individuals to return home safely and recover from disruption. This job offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver reablement-focused programmes to rebuild daily living skills.
  • Identify opportunities for independence and connect individuals with community resources.
  • Promote social inclusion by encouraging participation in local activities.
  • Provide personalised support and advice to service users and their carers.
  • Maintain accurate records and measure the effectiveness of intervention.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, health professionals, and housing associates.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant health or social care qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent).
  • At least two years of experience in care work (paid, voluntary, or personal).
  • Strong understanding of community care services and the Care Act 2014.
  • Proficiency in IT systems for record-keeping and reporting.

Post allocated to the Communities Directorate, ECS Support Unit.
