About the Role

The Maximising Independence Service (MIS) focuses on early resolution, prevention, and promoting independence and wellbeing. The service aims to help people maximise their independence by:

  • Providing information, advice, and guidance
  • Setting short-term goals
  • Identifying tailored support to achieve those goals

This includes:

  • Enablement
  • Reablement
  • Benefits advice
  • Signposting to community support
  • Equipment and minor adaptations
  • Carers support and advice
  • Routine moving and handling reviews (Single Handed Care)
  • Support from i-work
  • Blue badge eligibility

The service collaborates with other providers to enhance independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals aged 17+ across all service areas.
  • Provide up to 12 weeks of support to help clients achieve meaningful goals (e.g., learning public transport, social activities, or cooking).
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of an Enablement Manager.
  • Use a strengths-based approach to understand and support clients.
  • Serve the north of the county (covering Newark, Sherwood, and Bassetlaw), requiring flexible travel to meet demand.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience or a strong desire to enter social care.
  • Ability to work flexibly across assigned areas.
