About the Role
Nottinghamshire County Council is dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for staff and service users. We are looking for a passionate, strengths-based professional to join the Maximising Independence Service (MIS) as a Promoting Independence Worker.
In this role, you will provide short-term (up to 12 weeks) information, advice, and practical support to individuals aged 17.5+, helping them regain confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
As a Promoting Independence Worker, you will:
- Deliver reablement-focused interventions to help individuals develop essential life skills.
- Identify key independence opportunities and connect service users with local community services.
- Support social inclusion through community activity participation.
- Provide information and guidance to individuals and their carers.
- Maintain comprehensive records and monitor support progress.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (health, social care, and voluntary sectors) for holistic outcomes.

Requirements & Essentials
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant health, social care, or disability-related qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- At least two years’ experience in care work (paid, voluntary, or personal experience).
- Strong knowledge of community care services, including:
- Care Act 2014 legislation
- Safeguarding practices
- Proficient IT skills for record-keeping and reporting.
