Role Overview
Salary: £25,583 - £26,403 per annum (pro rata if applying for a job share) Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) Work Base: Welbeck House, Sherwood Energy Village, NG22 9FF Working Arrangements: Hybrid Tier: Tier 7a within the Competency Framework
The Maximising Independence Service (MIS) seeks three dynamic and creative Promoting Independence Workers who are passionate about empowering individuals to achieve independence, wellbeing and personalised goals.

About the Service
The MIS focuses on preventative and enablement work to equip individuals (aged 17+) with the tools to live independently. Services include:
- Enablement & Reablement
- Benefits advice
- Signposting to community support
- Equipment & minor adaptations
- Carers support & advice
- Routine moving & handling reviews (Single Handed Care)
- i-work support
- Blue badge eligibility checks
Collaboration with other providers ensures a holistic approach to support.

We’re looking for those who:

Role Responsibilities
You’ll support people across North Nottinghamshire (Newark, Sherwood and Bassetlaw) in achieving individually meaningful goals, such as learning to:
- Use public transport
- Engage in social activities
- Learn basic life skills (e.g., cooking)
As a Promoting Independence Worker, your key tasks include:
- Working with individuals for up to 12 weeks—shaping bespoke plans focused on key goals
- Delivering strengths-based interventions to improve independence and quality of life
- Collaborating with external services (e.g., carers, equipment providers)
- Recording and evaluating outcomes effectively
- Upholding safeguarding responsibilities
- Maintaining confidence in working within a rapid-response system
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- A desire to work in social care, independence promotion, or equivalent experience
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to personalised care and promoting autonomy
- Willingness to travel flexibly across the specified areas

Desirable Criteria
- Experience in enablement, reablement, or benefits guidance
- Knowledge of adult safeguarding and disability rights
- First Aid or manual handling training beneficial
- Strengths-based coaching or mental health awareness familiarity
