Key Responsibilities
No two claims are the same. One day you could be assessing a major escape of water claim, and the next investigating structural damage or helping a business recover from a significant loss event.
You'll:
- Manage a portfolio of domestic and commercial property claims of varying complexity and value.
- Interpret and apply policy cover, terms and conditions to determine liability and settlement.
- Investigate property damage, identifying root causes and appropriate remedial actions.
- Assess claims involving fire, flood, subsidence, heave, landslip and other insured perils.
- Review contractors' estimates, repair scopes and technical reports.
- Negotiate fair and cost-effective settlements with all parties involved.
- Identify opportunities for recovery and pursue subrogation where appropriate.
- Conduct investigative interviews and gather supporting evidence to establish claim validity.
- Provide expert advice and support to customers, clients and colleagues.
- Ensure all claim files are accurately maintained and managed in line with service standards and regulatory requirements.
- Continuously seek innovative solutions that deliver the best outcome for both customers and clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
