Salary: £37,168 - £39, 708 FTE (pro rata if part-time)
Location: Kingsland Hub, Hackney, E8 4DG

The role:
Reporting directly to the Head of Property & Development, the Property Inspector will oversee responsive repairs, manage void properties, ensure works are delivered on time and within budget, and maintain the highest standards of quality and value for money.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee responsive repairs and void property works, ensuring swift completion and minimal void periods
- Monitor contractor performance, carry out post-inspections, and ensure all works meet required specifications
- Liaise with tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure excellent communication and customer satisfaction
- Manage Stage 1 complaints, investigating issues and ensuring fair and timely resolution
- Maintain accurate data on our property management and stock condition systems
- Collaborate with surveyors, contractors, and colleagues to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues
- Attend weekly planning meetings, prepare progress reports, and contribute to efficient project delivery
- Lead or support property-related projects, including stock condition surveys and tenant engagement panels
- Monitor contractor health and safety compliance and ensure all works meet statutory standards
- Ensure expenditure stays within budget, authorising works in line with delegated limits, and verifying invoices prior to payment
- Support continuous improvement, exploring innovative and efficient ways of working

Person specification:
- Previous property experience within a repairs or maintenance environment
- Experience in assessing and managing repair projects
- Knowledge of working in tenanted homes with a strong understanding of Health and Safety
- Experience in using performance data to identify improvements and raise standards
- Excellent communication and record‐keeping skills
- Ability to systematically plan works, delegate tasks, and coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders
- Strong analytical ability to review and adapt work specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work independently and within a team
- Confident IT user, experienced with databases and capable of analysing data to drive performance
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation applicable to the housing sector
- Able to assess situations accurately and devise effective, safe working solutions
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across all organisational levels
- Solution‐focused approach, promoting positive outcomes and win–win results for tenants
- Strong report‐writing skills and attention to detail
- Experience of liaising effectively with multiple contractors and tenants
- Understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Ability to propose and implement improvements to working processes
- Interest in social justice and awareness of barriers faced by people with complex needs
- Positive, can‐do attitude with curiosity and problem‐solving mindset
- Working towards, part qualified or fully qualified in a relevant building, surveying or maintenance discipline
