Property Surveyor

Location: Remote working (Covering sites in Dorset & surrounding areas) Contract: 37.5 hours per week | Permanent Salary: £47,000 plus £5,800 car allowance

Role Overview

You’ll ensure our homes are safe, compliant, and well-maintained. As a Property/Building Surveyor in housing, you’ll manage a regional portfolio, leading inspections, repairs, and contractor performance to support residents to live independently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver responsive repairs and minor works, safely, on time, and within budget
  • Carry out site visits, pre- and post-inspections, and quality checks to ensure compliance
  • Manage contractors, variations, and complex repairs across multiple locations
  • Monitor and control Work in Progress (WIP), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to improve performance and reduce backlog
  • Diagnose defects and deliver practical, cost-effective repair solutions
  • Ensure compliance with Building Safety Regulations, fire safety, and HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System)
  • Resolve damp, mould, and condensation (DMC) issues in line with best practice
  • Manage complaints effectively, using insights to improve services
  • Provide technical support for incidents, including fires and Suspected Unlawful Interference (SUIs)
  • Work with residents and teams to maintain safe, high-quality homes

Requirements

  • Experience in social housing, repairs, voids, and contractor management
  • Strong knowledge of building pathology and health and safety legislation
  • Ability to manage WIP, data, and multiple sites effectively
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Relevant degree or working towards MRICS or MCIOB (desirable)
  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience in building/construction (essential)
