Role Description
The Propositions Consultant plays a pivotal role in shaping, developing and delivering customer‑centric propositions that support Allianz Commercial’s strategy and strengthen our competitive position in the UK commercial insurance market.
The role leads defined cross‑functional proposition initiatives, bringing insight, constructive challenge and strong commercial judgement to ensure outcomes meet customer needs, regulatory expectations and business priorities.
This role requires strong analytical capability, confidence engaging senior stakeholders, solid commercial insurance knowledge, and the ability to translate insights into compelling, deliverable propositions.
Location
This is a hybrid role based in Guildford with the expectation of attending the office at least once a week.
Salary Information
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
Strategic Market, Customer & Competitor Insight
- Analyse UK insurance market trends, competitor activity and customer needs, to inform proposition strategy, prioritisation and decision‑making.
- Translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations, influencing senior stakeholders and contributing to forward‑looking strategic thinking.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of proposition pipelines, ensuring a clear link between strategic priorities, customer value and delivery plans.
Proposition Design & Development
- Leads the end‑to‑end development of assigned propositions or proposition initiatives — from idea generation and business case through to market launch — ensuring alignment with customer needs, commercial opportunity and Allianz Commercial strategy.
- Facilitates value proposition and service design, working closely with key stakeholders to co‑create solutions that deliver meaningful customer value.
- Challenges assumptions and applies structured thinking to ensure proposition concepts are robust, insight‑led and commercially viable.
Delivery Leadership & Cross‑Functional Coordination
- Acts as day‑to‑day proposition lead for initiatives, coordinating activity across Underwriting, Technical, Distribution, Transformation and Marketing.
- Maintains momentum on initiatives, proactively managing risks, dependencies and decision points to ensure timely and effective delivery.
- Builds strong working relationships across the business, influencing and negotiating to achieve alignment, resolve issues and drive progress.
- Operates confidently in ambiguity, using judgement to balance pace, risk and quality of outcomes.

Governance, Assurance & Senior Engagement
- Guides product and business owners through governance requirements, offering expertise, constructive challenge and support where needed.
- Provides clear, succinct written and verbal updates into governance and senior leadership forums, supporting prioritisation, investment and approval decisions.
- Supports the delivery of propositions that achieve positive customer outcomes while balancing profitability, risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
Go‑to‑Market & Proposition Activation
- Works closely with Marketing and Distribution to define effective go‑to‑market, communication and launch strategies for new and enhanced propositions.
- Supports internal understanding and adoption of propositions, ensuring clarity of value, positioning and intent.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in proposition development, strategy, product, underwriting or related roles within insurance or financial services
- Excellent commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to assess value and investment rationale.
- Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership for delivery, quality and stakeholder alignment
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer needs, profitability, risk and strategic fit.
- Excellent research, analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to interpret data and market intelligence.
- Well-developed planning, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills — able to produce high‑quality, concise written outputs and present confidently to senior stakeholders.

Desirable Skills
- Experience within commercial insurance and broker‑focused markets.
- CII Diploma or above preferred
- Experience leading cross‑functional projects or working within transformation or change environments.
- Experience using customer insight, proposition design or service design methodologies.
