ABOUT YOU You are a motivated individual who enjoys hands on work. Either with experience or a desire to work on engines, powertrain systems, vehicles, or similar mechanical equipment in a workshop or test environment. You take pride in working safely, following procedures, and maintaining high standards of accuracy when collecting test data and supporting test programmes. A proactive team player, you enjoy solving practical problems and working closely with engineers to ensure testing is completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

Required skills and experience: Vocational qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable. Hands-on experience in automotive, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic or similar industry relevant environment considered.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of propulsion testing, supporting the development and validation of internal combustion engine and powertrain technologies. As a Propulsion Test Technician, you will be directly involved in preparing test hardware, setting up and operating engine test facilities, monitoring test activity, and supporting troubleshooting and maintenance activities. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will play a key role in delivering customer testing programmes while contributing to the safe, efficient operation of the facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical mechanical work and wants to develop their expertise within a professional engine testing environment.

Key activities: Conduct tests on propulsion systems using laboratory-based facilities, as outlined by project engineer or customer engineer. Monitor and record test data, ensuring it meets quality and performance standards. Raising any anomalies or issues observed to project engineers. Support the troubleshooting and resolving of issues in a methodical manner, introducing solutions to prevent reoccurrence. Assist in administrative tasks related to test scheduling, documentation, data management and hardware inventories to ensure seamless project delivery. Support project hardware and electrical preparation, assembly, disassembly and modification activities. Perform basic fabrication activities to meet project hardware mounting and fixture requirements. Support maintenance, cleaning and organising activities to ensure the facility remains safe, functional and efficient. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test methodologies, operational efficiency and standardisation. Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal and client teams. Adherence to health and safety policies. Support risk assessment of safe working in the test environment and the actioning of risk items.
