Blatchford Clinic is a private prosthetic and orthotic clinical service provider. Most of our clients have undergone complex trauma resulting in life changing injuries. Our aim is to provide a high level of service combined with the most advanced devices to restore our clients, as far as possible, to their pre-injury level of mobility. Working closely with legal professionals, case managers and insurers we provide expert witness services, initial needs assessments and bespoke treatment packages.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Prosthetic Technician to join the Blatchford Private Clinic team in Sheffield.
The role
As Prosthetic Technician, you will undertake efficient limb manufacturing and limb repairs, ensuring the best use of labour and materials to provide a high-quality, cost-effective service to meet the requirements of the Private Prosthetic Service.
Key duties:
- Working closely with the Principal Prosthetist to produce high quality, well-fitting prostheses finished to the highest standard
- Assisting Prosthetist in clinical setting with direct socket manufacture/ fault investigation/ other patient facing tasks as directed by the Prosthetist
- Interpreting and understanding prosthetic information supplied by Prosthetist
- Undertaking daily repairs and adjustments using a wide range of appropriate materials and tools
- Manufacturing and repairing as appropriate component limbs incorporating regular use of a variety of hand tools –screwdrivers, hammers, spanners, wrenches, saws and machinery including routers, linishers, grinders and drills
- Traveling to other Private Clinic sites in the UK to work as required including overnight stays if necessary
- Representing the Private Clinic at internal and external promotional/ training events
