Location: Stafford
We're seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer (Design) to deliver high-quality HV & EHV protection design across the UK electricity networks. This is a pure design role, focused solely on:
- Protection studies
- Relay application
- Technical documentation
No operational or SCADA responsibilities

The Role
- Develop protection philosophies aligned with DNO and National Grid standards
- Conduct fault level calculations
- Perform grading and coordination studies
- Design schemes for:
- Transformers
- Feeders
- Busbars
- Cables
- Produce:
- Protection single lines
- Schematics
- Calculation reports
- Support technical assurance and design reviews
About You
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- 3–7 years’ experience in Protection & Controls design
- Prior experience on UK DNO or National Grid projects
- Strong knowledge of HV/EHV protection systems and relays (familiarity with suppliers such as ABB, Siemens, SEL, GE, Schneider)

Desirable Qualifications
- Working towards CEng registration or qualified as a fully registered Engineer (CEng)
