Prototype Build Technician (FTC)

£35,000 - £45,000 + 12 Month FTC + Monday-Friday + Company Benefits

Southampton

Are you a hands-on Prototype Build Technician with experience in electronics, wiring, assembly, model building, or prototype manufacturing? Are you looking for a 12-month fixed-term contract where you can work on cutting-edge unmanned vehicle and advanced prototype projects within an ambitious start-up environment?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing start-up engineering company developing next-generation prototype systems across maritime and aerospace-inspired applications. Working closely with engineers and designers, you will play a key role in building, testing, and refining experimental products in a highly varied workshop environment.

In this role, you will be involved in assembling and wiring prototype systems, supporting electrical and motor testing activities, operating and maintaining 3D printers, and building scaled RC models and development platforms. You will work with a range of materials and manufacturing processes, contributing directly to the development of innovative technologies from concept through to testing.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
