Job Title: Prudential & Credit Risk Manager
We are looking for a Prudential & Credit Risk Manager to join our team at Head Office.
Following the successful probationary period, this position will transition into a hybrid role working:
- 3 days per week on-site in Stockport
- 2 days per week from home
Role Summary
This role involves second-line oversight, challenge, and assurance across prudential and credit risks, ensuring:
- The Society remains financially resilient
- It remains well-capitalised
- Compliance with regulatory expectations
The role supports the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in maintaining a robust risk management framework while facilitating sustainable growth and member value.

Desirable Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate should have:

Sector-specific experience in:
- Building Society
- Mutual sector
- Smaller banks
- Specialist mortgage lenders

Strong understanding of:
- Capital adequacy
- Net interest margin (NIM) pressures
- Retail funding stickiness
- Mutual resolution and going concern (MREL) rules

Ability to interpret regulatory expectations effectively

Analytical and stress testing skills primed for complex financial risks

In-depth knowledge of:
- PRA prudential requirements
- ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process)
- ILAAP (Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process)
- Recovery planning
- Solvent exit planning
- Capital and liquidity risk

Specialized mortgage portfolio credit risk aware of:
- Concentration risk (size, LTI, LTV, IO)
- Arrears and portfolio monitoring
-
Experience in reviewing/challenging regulatory returns, management information, risk appetite metrics, or Board/Committee risk reporting

Second-line oversight and assurance expertise
-
Advanced Excel skills, including:
- Analysis of large data sets
- Intuitive use of formulas
- Pivot tables and charts
- Clear risk management information (MI) production for reporting

Strong time management and self-motivation, capable of balancing multiple short and long-term projects

Salary:
£70,000 per annum (Mid-Market 80%-120% range)

Pension scheme (7.5% employer contributions, increasing to 10% after 2 years) after the mandatory 13-week postponement period following pension auto-enrolment criteria
