PSV / HGV Mechanic - Night Shifts

Are you an experienced PSV or HGV Mechanic looking for your next challenge? Join a professional engineering team where your expertise keeps vehicles safe, reliable and ready for the road.

£22.50/h - Night shifts - 10pm - 6:30am - 40 hours per week, overtime paid at £22.50/h - Working 5 over 7 including bank holidays on a rota basis. (24/7 operational site)

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a modern workshop on a varied fleet, with shift work offering plenty of variety, responsibility and long-term career prospects.

The Role

As a PSV / HGV Mechanic you'll be responsible for ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, helping to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT inspections.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with DVSA and VOSA standards.
  • Completing job cards and maintenance records accurately.
  • Responding to vehicle breakdowns and carrying out effective repairs.
  • Supporting apprentices and junior engineers where required.
  • Working safely while maintaining high engineering standards at all times.

What We're Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
  • Previous experience working on PCVs or HGVs within a workshop, fleet or dealership environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and occasional overtime.
  • Full UK driving licence.
