Shift Engineer – Harlow

We’re looking for a skilled Shift Engineer to join our Harlow engineering team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining vehicle safety, performance, and reliability, helping ensure our services run smoothly every day.
Shift Pattern
- Monday – Friday: 05:30 – 22:00
- Saturday: 06:00 – 22:00
- Sunday: 14:00 – 22:00 (Shift coverage within these operating hours)

- £26 per hour, overtime rate: £38.48 per hour

Responsibilities
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections to identify faults, defects, or safety issues
- Attend on-road breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs where possible
- Support planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the workshop
- Ensure all work complies with safety, legal, and Arriva engineering standards
- Accurately complete service sheets, inspection reports, and maintenance records
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and operations teams to maintain service reliability and drive continuous improvement

Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in PSV or HGV Engineering, with time-served experience
- Strong understanding of industry standards, safety procedures, and diagnostics
- Independent worker who can follow technical instructions confidently
- Good mechanical skills and experience using workshop tools and equipment
- Physically fit, with the ability to perform manual handling tasks
- Flexible approach to shift work, including weekends
