Position Overview
Title: Psychiatry Junior Registrar / Registrar
Employment Type: Temporary, Full time
Salary: $111,826 – $155,223 (per annum)
Location: Canberra Hospital (Garran, ACT) and North Canberra Hospital (Bruce, ACT) Section: Mental Health, Justice Health and Alcohol and Drug Service (MHJHADS)

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be PGY3+ by February 2027.
- Shortlisted applicants will progress through interviews and be placed on a merit list.
- Successful applicants for the PGY3 Senior Resident position may remain in the classification temporarily unless granted accredited registrar status by January 2027.
Role Description
At Canberra Health Services (CHS)*, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health care via a model of care that integrates:
- Clinical services (acute, sub-acute, inpatient and outpatient care)
- Community-based interventions (prevention, treatment, recovery)
- Justice Health in detention centres
- Collaboration with partners (non-government and government agencies).
MHJHADS embraces a consumer and carer-integrated approach in service design, aiming for measurable health outcomes.
If selected for an accredited psychiatry training position, you will benefit from:
- A RANZCP-accredited training program in the ACT, under senior psychiatrist supervision.
- Full access to the cost-free ACT RANZCP Formal Education Course, exclusively for trainees.
- Opportunities to complete all RANZCP Fellowship requirements within the maximising supervised training framework.
