Role Brief
The role of Psychological Therapies Digital Therapist is suited to fully qualified and accredited psychotherapists. This position is a key component of the Spectrum mental health team.
Responsibilities
Deliver Specialist Evidence-Based Interventions
- Provide high-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, HI-CBT) and other structured digital interventions via:
- Video
- Phone
- Text-based platforms
- Deliver NICE-recommended psychological therapies, including:
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Counselling for Depression (CfD)
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
- Behavioural Activation (BA)
- Mindfulness-Based Interventions
- Tailor individualised treatment plans based on NICE guidelines and client needs for remote delivery.
- Adapt interventions to ensure effectiveness within a digital format.
- Determine appropriate treatment pathways within an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) step-care model.
- Utilise Spectrum.Life’s digital platforms to deliver structured therapies, enabling clients to engage with:
- Self-help tools
- Psychoeducation
- Digital therapy resources
- Maintain clinical governance and ensure safe, ethical digital therapeutic delivery.
- Provide guidance on using digital tools while fostering therapeutic engagement.
- Adhere to:
- Data protection (GDPR)
- Confidentiality and safeguarding policies
- Engage in:
- Regular clinical supervision
- Continued professional development (CPD)
- Peer consultations
- Participate in:
- Clinical audits
- Data analysis
- Outcome evaluations
- Contribute to enhancing digital service effectiveness and improving client experience.
- Support the development of new mental health tools and online therapy innovations.

Requirements
Essential
- Full professional accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
- BABCP-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in High-Intensity CBT (Mandatory prerequisite).
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification clinical experience.
- Demonstrated experience delivering high-intensity CBT within IAPT services or equivalent.
- Experience in providing NICE-guideline-aligned psychological therapies, such as:
- Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- EMDR
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CBT-PTSD)
- Behavioural Activation (BA)
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Counselling for Depression (CfD)
- Experience working within a stepped-care IAPT service.
- Skills in:
- Conducting client risk assessments
- Creating safety plans
- Strong digital literacy, adaptability for online intervention delivery, and familiarity with:
- Video conferencing software (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
- Clinical Electronic Health Records/CMS (e.g., MedOne)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook) and internet-based tools.
- Clean professional regulatory record free of complaints.

- Deep understanding of:
- Clinical governance

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaboratively contributing to a multidisciplinary team.
- Plan, organise, and prioritise workload efficiently.
Work Conditions & Mindset

- Willingness to provide and receive clinical supervision.
- Flexibility to work afternoons and evenings, covering clients in different time zones if needed.
Desirable (Additional Experience in):
- Evidence-Based Trauma Therapies, including:
- Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
- EMDR
- Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TI-CBT)
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Experience using standardised mental health measures, such as:
- CBT-Adapted Rating Scale (CBTRS)
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7)
- Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9)
- Work & Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS)
- Core Outcome Measures (COMs) (OPENCORES, HHG, etc.)
- Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21)
- Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS-21)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL-5)
