Job Description

Shire Healthcare are working with a reputable therapy practice delivering specialist therapy services to children and young people in educational settings who are recruiting for a Counsellor to be based in schools and their centre in Surrey.

About the employer

This employer is an independent provider of specialist care and education. They work with children and young people in either an educational setting who present a complexity of needs including Sensory Processing Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, Dyslexia, Speech and Language delay/disorders, attachment and trauma difficulties, global developmental delay or neurological disorders.

Role snapshot

The candidate appointed will be joining an MDT who work across schools and the therapy centre with children and young people aged 0-18 years. This role will assess and treat children and families who have been affected neglect, abuse, loss and trauma and whom may be struggling to develop secure attachments and healthy relationships. The post holder will work in an trauma informed approach and be skilled in play therapy.

Contract type – permanent

Hours – 5 days per week

Term time salary - £38,700

Experience required

Candidates applying will have relevant registration to practice as a Counsellor or Therapist (BACP accreditation) and/or Certification or specialisation in Play Therapy (e.g., Certified Play Therapist or similar qualification) along with experience working with children and young people who present with neurodevelopmental needs such as Autism, SEMH, ADHD and learning disabilities. Those who are working towards accreditation will be considered.
