Livewell Southwest works in partnership with the NHS to deliver mental health and community services across Plymouth, West Devon, and the South Hams. The organization focuses on providing accessible, person-centered care that supports individuals in their own communities. A key aim is to reduce reliance on hospital bed-based care by offering effective support, treatment, and early intervention locally. Role Description
This is a full time, on-site Psychologist role based in Plymouth. The Psychologist will provide psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions to individuals using mental health and community services. Day-to-day work includes conducting clinical sessions, maintaining accurate records, contributing to care plans, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support holistic care. The role also involves delivering psychoeducation, offering consultation and supervision to colleagues where appropriate, and participating in service development and quality improvement activities. The Psychologist will engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development to maintain high standards of practice.

Qualifications

- Relevant accredited qualification in Psychology (e.g., Doctorate in Clinical, Counseling, or Health Psychology) and eligibility for registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC or equivalent).
- Demonstrated skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and delivery of evidence-based interventions for a range of mental health needs.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including strong communication, collaboration, and case management skills.
- Experience or training in risk assessment, safeguarding, and managing complex presentations in community or outpatient settings.
- Competence in maintaining clear, accurate clinical documentation and using electronic health record systems.
- Commitment to person-centered care, equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to reducing unnecessary hospital admissions through community-based support.
- Willingness to engage in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development, including staying current with best-practice guidelines.
- Prior experience within NHS or community mental health services in the UK is beneficial but not essential.
