Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Full-Time September 2026 Start Mainstream Primary School Barking

Are you a high-achieving Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience supporting children before pursuing a career in educational psychology, clinical psychology, teaching, speech and language therapy, or mental health services?

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Barking is seeking a dedicated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This full-time position is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about child development, learning, behaviour, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

The school is particularly interested in applications from graduates who have studied at a UK university, with Russell Group graduates strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, working closely with teachers and the SEN team to provide academic, behavioural, social, and emotional support.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs within the classroom.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assisting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement in learning.
  • Supporting teachers with classroom activities and learning resources.
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
