About the Role
Joining as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant will offer real-world insight into school-based SEN provision, supporting pupils with specialised requirements. This opportunity is perfect for someone eager to build valuable experience in SEN, with potential to enhance progression into educational or clinical psychology.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN)
- Assist children in accessing learning, maintaining routines, and building confidence
- Work in collaboration with class teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to monitor progress and tailor interventions
- Take a graduated approach to supporting needs, identifying challenges, and adjusting strategies as necessary – in line with the SEND Code of Practice

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualification: Minimum of a 2:2 or above (any subject area)
- Enhanced DBS check: Must have or be willing to obtain in advance of starting

- Clear and confident communication: Verbal and written clarity essential
- Empathy and patience: Core skills for supporting children with diverse learning needs
- Observational mind: Strong ability to notice and respond to nuanced requirements
