Psychotherapist Band 7 Early Intervention Team – Fixed Term (15 months) – Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Job Summary
This is a fixed-term (15 months) contract starting September 2026 within the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust, based at Kendray Hospital.
We are recruiting a Psychotherapist (Band 7) to join our multi-disciplinary Early Intervention Team (EIT). The role focuses on supporting individuals presenting with first-episode psychosis or at risk of developing a psychotic episode, including using trauma-informed approaches. This is an excellent opportunity for newly qualified therapists to develop their trauma-informed practice.
Hours & Location:
- Primary: 8:00am–8:00pm, Monday–Friday
- Secondary: 9:00am–5:00pm, weekends & bank holidays where required
- 6 months’ UK Visas and Immigration sponsorship available initially (additional sponsorship may apply subject to eligibility).
About the Role
The Psychotherapist (Band 7) will:
- Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed psychotherapy for transdiagnostic anxiety, depression, PTSD, psychosis, and trauma.
- Support risk management, relapse prevention, and the development of coping strategies.
- Work collaboratively with a multi-agency team, mental health professionals, and carers.
- Provide clinical supervision, training, and consultation to other professionals in mental health and related disciplines.
Job Plan & Key Responsibilities:
- Provide CBT and trauma-focused interventions, assisting in risk assessment and stabilisation.
- Conduct clinical assessments and treatment plans legitimately targeting moderate to severe mental health issues.
- Offer evidence-based psychology and person-centred therapy in accordance with NHS Agenda for Change Band 7 role expectations.

Key Responsibilities (listed in bullet points for clarity)
Therapeutic Interventions
- Apply trauma-informed CBT, addressing anxiety, depression, PTSD, and psychosis.
- Use formulation-based treatment plans to reduce relapse risk.
Professional Standards & Accountability

Training and Development

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
- Significant supervised clinical experience.
- Completed relevant supervised therapeutic practice.
- Assessment, formulation, and intervention expertise in general clinical settings.
Experience (Desirable but Optional)
- Direct experience in:
- CBT/DBT/EMDR (correlated with community psychology cases).
- Emotional and social difficulties, including psychosis risks.
- Working with Children/Young People (16-25 years) and complex trauma cases.
Qualifications (Essential)
- Registered qualification in:
- Core mental health profession (e.g., Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work);
- OR an approved psychology graduate with:
- Successful completion of accredited Low Intensity IAPT training (self-assessed with BABCP).
- Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (UKCP or ACAP-approved) + specialised supervision for psychosis.
- Full UK Professional Registration (or planned close acquisition of such registration).
Specialist Skills
Required:
- Effective communication (suffering people must be treated with empathy).
- Ability to travel across South West Yorkshire as needed.
