P/T Personal Assistant / Companion

Hours: 9 – 12hrs per week

Days / Hours: (Earliest start 9.30am / latest finish 8.00pm)

Days – to be discussed at interview

R.O.P: £13.45 – £14.59 per hr

Duties

Personal Assistants x 2 (Female) required to provide Personal Care assistance, Social Support and companionship to a young woman who lives with Multiple Sclerosis and is now wheelchair dependent as a result. She lives in her own accommodation in the Dreghorn area. She is a very private individual and as the support provided will be mainly in her own home, confidentiality is of utmost importance.

She is looking to employ 2 x part-time Personal Assistants to support her on a day to day basis.

Personal Care

Support may be required with personal care including hair washing, showering, continence care, dressing, breakfast preparation and medication prompting. Essential hygiene housework tasks such as clearing dishes, laundry, bed making. Food preparation / batch cooking will also form part of the role.

Social Support

Support will also be required with shopping tasks, putting away grocery deliveries, attendance at appointments and accessing the wider community, such as going to clubs, events, the cinema, ten pin bowling, out for meals and so on. Applicants must also be willing to assist with taking a small pet dog to the groomers or vets if required. They must also have the confidence and ability to judge when the employer requires someone to speak up on their behalf, without taking away her independence.

She is looking for applicants who are friendly, with a cheery personality, easy going and sociable with a genuine interest in supporting her to maintain her independence. Applicants must also like animals as she has one small friendly pet dog.

Understanding of MS and experience of working with clients with Physical Disabilities is desirable. It is preferable that applicants are a driver, with current drivers licence, use of own car and business insurance. Wage rate incorporates travel allowance however mileage costs will be covered if traveling any distance for work related purposes.

The successful applicants will have to undergo a new PVG Disclosure, at the employer’s expense and supply 2 reference contacts prior to appointment.

There is a 6-month probationary period attached to these posts with 1 weeks’ notice within that time if the post does not work out.
