Public Cloud - Google Cloud Engineer

Job Title: Lloyds Banking Group (GCP Cloud Engineer) Share Bonus: £72,702 - £80,780 + performance-based share bonus

Location: Manchester

Hours & Working Pattern: Full-time (at least two days per week in-office)

The Role

Purpose: Build a cloud platform tailored to:

  • Customers: Quick, secure and resilient
  • Developers: Efficient, modern and green

Key Interest Areas (Prior Experience Aids DA):

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP):
    • Analytics, AI, Databases, Serverless products
    • Networking, security, IAM & platform engineering
  • Technologies:
    • Terraform; CI/CD (Harness / GitHub Actions); Python; Git workflows
    • Backstage; Policy-as-Code (Open Policy Agent)
    • Security tooling: organisation policies, security health analytics, Wiz
    • Dynatrace
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge of multi-agent AI systems

Provals for Members

Serving our Clients: A Cloud Engineer who:

  • Designs, builds, and manages secure, scalable GCP infrastructure (e.g., BigQuery, Composer, Vertex AI, AlloyDB, Spanner, Cloud Run)
  • Implements key-policy corrective automated networking design patterns
  • Maintains Terraform modules for reusable deployments across analytical AI/ML databases and serverless products
  • Develops CI/CD pipelines using Harness and Python, reducing manual effort
  • Encodes regulatory security and access requirements as guardrails (Wiz, Rego, Open Policy Agent)
  • Creates self-service "Golden Paths" via Backstage; provided templates, scaffolding, docs, and automation hooks

Partner: Internal Teams

  • Collaborates with security, risk, architecture & delivery teams
  • Ensures alignment with AI regulation head biometric risks
  • Enhances monitoring, reliability and incident response (including on-call rotation)

Technical Responsibilities: Branch on:

  2. Feature Owners: Taking features/products through delivery end-to-end

  3. Multi-Disciplinary Work: With Agile peers; scaling CI/CD, observability, cost optimization and AI-infused processes

  • Generative AI technologies (e.g., Gemini agents or Copilot Studio) for:
    • AI-assisted deployments
    • Auto documentation
    • Policy reasoning and warning

What You’ll Earn

  • Base pay: ≈ £72,702 - £80,780
