Salary: £31,537 pro rata, per annum

Working Pattern: Part Time

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and proactive Public Health Communications Officer, to join us as key members of the Communications, Engagement and Marketing team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a part-time, permanent Contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering communications that support public health priorities, helping residents make informed decisions and encouraging healthier lifestyles.

About The Role

You will lead on the development and delivery of impactful communications campaigns that support our public health agenda. Working closely with the Public Health team, you will provide expert advice on multi-channel communications, ensuring messages reach and resonate with our communities.

The role involves a mix of strategic planning and hands-on delivery, from campaign development to content creation and media handling, including supporting communications in response to major incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver strategic public health communications campaigns that drive awareness and behaviour change
  • Provide expert communications advice to the Public Health team
  • Develop forward communications plans aligned to council priorities
  • Create engaging content across a range of channels, including social media, newsletters and media releases
  • Support public health consultation and engagement activity
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of communications
  • Contribute to media and crisis communications responses
  • Support the council’s response to major incidents

Candidate Requirements

You will be a skilled communicator with experience in delivering effective campaigns and creating high-quality content across multiple channels.

You Will Have

  • Excellent writing skills across a range of formats, including digital and media content
  • Strong social media expertise, including content creation
  • Experience delivering communications or marketing campaigns with measurable outcomes
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
