Starting Salary: £34,434 progressing to £37,280 per annum (pro rata for part time) - pay award pending

You’ll join a small, collaborative Public Health Corporate Services team central to how services are governed and delivered. The team ensures consistency, resilience, and coordination across:
- Governance
- Compliance
- Digital systems
- Finance
- Performance
Working closely with senior leaders, the team provides valuable insight and oversight to support decision-making and continuous improvement in a supportive, high-standards environment.
About The Role
The Public Health Corporate Services Officer will play a key role in strengthening the capacity and resilience of the Public Health Corporate Services team. Supporting effective delivery of:
- Governance
- Digital
- Financial functions
- Risk management
- Learning and development
- Performance management
You will lead and coordinate key areas, including:
- Governance tracking
- Ethics approvals
- Directory management
- Internal compliance
Supporting strategic planning, reporting, and programme delivery, this role ensures robust systems, processes, and oversight, enabling informed decision-making and efficient service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth operation of the end-to-end decision-making process for the Public Health Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee, maintaining adherence to standards and timelines.
- Lead management and maintenance of key governance systems, such as the Public Health Governance Tracker, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Take responsibility for managing and developing the Herts Directory on behalf of Public Health.
- Promote compliance with Public Health governance processes, policies, and procedures, engaging regularly with relevant teams.
- Foster strong relationships with senior leadership and Executive Support colleagues for effective collaboration.
- Apply deep organisational knowledge to support informed decision-making across governance.

About You
The successful candidate should have:
- A recognised vocational qualification (or equivalent) or graduate-level entry with practical experience in a similar role.
- Significant practical experience supporting corporate services with a proactive, high-quality approach.
- Understanding of the organisation’s political environment and corporate plan.
- Previous experience working in a Public Health team.
- Ability to work independently, taking ownership, meeting deadlines, and maintaining momentum.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple complex priorities with attention to detail.
- Capacity to build professional relationships with senior stakeholders and communicate effectively across the organisation.
