About The Team
You’ll join a small, collaborative Public Health Corporate Services team, central to governing and delivering services effectively.
This team ensures consistency, resilience, and coordination across:
- Governance and compliance
- Digital systems
- Finance and performance
Working closely with senior leaders, they provide insight and oversight to support decision-making and continuous improvement—all in a supportive, high-standards environment.
About The Role
The Public Health Corporate Services Officer will strengthens the team’s capacity and resilience by supporting:
- Effective delivery of governance, digital, and financial functions
- Risk management, learning and development, and performance management
- Maintaining robust systems, processes, and oversight across all Public Health portfolios
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading governance tracking, ethics approvals, directory management, and internal compliance
- Supporting strategic planning, reporting, and programme delivery
- Ensuring high standards of governance, enabling informed decision-making
- Delivering efficient and compliant Public Health services
Responsibilities Include
- Ensure the smooth operation of the Public Health Research and Evaluation Ethics Committee decision-making process, ensuring adherence to standards and timelines
- Manage and maintain key governance systems, including the Public Health Governance Tracker, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Oversee and develop the Herts Directory on behalf of Public Health
- Promote compliance with Public Health governance processes, policies, and procedures through engagement with teams
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior leadership and Executive Support
- Apply deep organisational knowledge to support informed decision-making across governance structures

About You
Essential Requirements
The selected candidate will have:
- A recognised vocational qualification or equivalent plus broad related experience, or:
- Graduate-level entry with sound practical experience
- Significant hands-on experience in a corporate services role, demonstrating a proactive, high-quality approach
- Understanding of:
- The organisation’s political environment
- The corporate plan and key responsibilities
- Experience working in a Public Health team
- Ability to:
- Work independently, take ownership of tasks, and meet tight deadlines
- Work in a fast-paced environment, handling complex schedules and conflicting priorities
- Maintain attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and governance processes
- Experience building professional relationships with senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all organisational levels
