Public Health Officer

Reference Number: 10775
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £37,280 to £39,152 per annum (2026/27 pay award pending)
Grade: I
Location: County Hall, Norwich (hybrid working)

About the Role

Our Public Health service is dedicated to achieving Norfolk County Council’s vision for Norfolk to be the place where everyone can start life well, live well, and age well; and where no one is left behind. Our transformation agenda is a key County Council priority, focused on prevention, tackling health inequalities, and influencing healthy public policy.

As a Public Health Officer, you will support the delivery of a range of public health priorities across the Norfolk health and care system. Working within a healthcare commissioning team, and reporting to the Public Health Principal for Health & Wellbeing Commissioning, you will contribute to the development and delivery of several projects and programmes with a core focus on Stop Smoking provisions seeking to improve the health of vulnerable populations, reflecting on the wider determinants of health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support evidence-based decision making by undertaking research, analysing data and insight, and contributing to needs assessments, service reviews, and evaluations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners across the County Council, Integrated Care System, district councils, and wider stakeholders to embed public health approaches across services.
  • Support commissioning activity by contributing to the development of service specifications, procurement processes, and contract monitoring.
  • Ensure services deliver value for money and positive outcomes for Norfolk residents.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
