Public Health Staff Nurse (0-19) – Children & Young People Service
Bournemouth North or Bournemouth South Locality Team
Enthusiastic Nurses, whether newly qualified or established, are invited to join our Children and Young People (CYP) 0-19 service within the Bournemouth North (Kinson, West Howe, Stokewood, Winton and Townsend) or Bournemouth South (Christchurch, Southbourne, Pokesdown) locality teams.
The Opportunity
As a Public Health Staff Nurse (0-19), you will:
- Deliver the Healthy Child Programme in partnership with children, young people, and families across:
- Family hubs
- Clinic settings
- Homes
- Schools and early years environments
- Work autonomously to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions and care packages for clients on your caseload.
- Foster independence and autonomy among clients while operating within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Support safeguarding, delivering early intervention strategies for children, young people, and families with identified needs.
- Proactively engage with partners, colleagues, and community organisations to provide evidence-based health advice.
- Continuously improve care standards, evaluating services and pursuing quality enhancement.
- Guide and train junior staff, students, and preceptorship nurses, ensuring a supportive mentoring environment.

Working Arrangements
- Fixed-term, part-time (22.5 hours per week, year-round)
- Core hours: 09:00–17:00 (flexible discussions at interview)
- Hybrid working model, including remote home working where possible, covering either Bournemouth North or South locality
- Contractual commitment to the allocated locality
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (cost covered by the Trust)
- Valid right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
- For NHS serving staff: Approval for secondment from your current employer (permission required prior to application)
Note: This is a secondment-based role for existing NHS staff.
