Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community you will join:
Airbnb’s Public Policy campaign team exists to further the interests of our community of hosts and guests with politicians, regulators, opinion leaders, and media who shape the political and regulatory context for our business. We engage governments at all levels and use innovative advocacy and partnership strategies to make the case for fair and progressive rules for home sharing.
The Difference You Will Make:
The role of the Public Policy Manager is to lead the conception and execution of successful policy and regulatory outcomes in the UK. Reporting to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs for Northern Europe, the Public Policy Manager will develop and execute integrated government relations, communications, and public advocacy projects to achieve key policy objectives.
As Public Policy Manager, you will be relentlessly focused on the big picture: able to strategize across multiple fronts, build effective relationships with policymakers, and influence the outcomes needed to advance Airbnb’s business objectives. You should have a strong independent work ethic, excellent communication skills, and an ability to take big ideas and translate them into policy with creativity. You will bring a campaigning mindset, be detail-oriented, and used to working with complexity.
A Typical Day:
- Develop and implement Airbnb’s legislative and public policy objectives; including helping determine advocacy priorities, positions, and strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with an extensive network of contacts in local, regional, and national governments, as well as with allied groups and coalition partners.
- Monitor, interpret, and influence the shape of legislation, providing analysis and critical thinking on how it may affect Airbnb’s priorities.
- Represent Airbnb in public, including meetings with government and elected officials, industry associations, Airbnb hosts, and other stakeholders.
- Build partnerships and alliances that bring the Airbnb brand vision to life, in order to support our policy goals.
- Work across the Airbnb business, to ensure that plans support the market objectives, and to communicate and prepare the business for change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
