Location: HMP Fosse Way, Leicester, LE18 4TN Salary: £26,510 per annum + excellent benefits Schedule: Full-time (Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week)
About the Role
As a Public Protection and VISOR Case Administrator in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll drive meaningful change by supporting public protection efforts. Your role centres on safeguarding children, vulnerable individuals, and the UK public by:
- Managing confidential information with the utmost discretion
- Coordinating with internal/outside agencies to uphold safeguarding responsibilities
- Facilitating operational processes within HMP Fosse Way and the broader prison estate
This position blends administration with ethical impact—your precise data handling, advocacy, and collaboration will foster safer communities and rehabilitative futures.
What You’ll Do
You’ll take ownership of critical tasks, ensuring compliance, security, and intelligence outcomes:
Coordination & Action
- Process child contact applications, aligning with Public Protection Manual requirements; liaise externally with agencies (e.g., local authorities).
- Collate sensitive prisoner data (e.g., case histories, risk assessments) and share it securely for internal/external use.
Monitoring & Safeguarding
- Review telephone records and mail communications for potential safeguarding risks; escalate intelligence to key stakeholders.
- Audit monitoring activities to certify full compliance with:
- Legislation (e.g., Servicing Vulnerable Offenders Regulations 2010)
- Departmental authorisation protocols
- Compile/minute monitoring logs for audit trails and security records.
Restricted Prisoner Management
- Conduct pre-contact risk checks for prisoners under travel restrictions.
- Partner with the Police Information Officer and Security Team to enforce policy.

Intelligence & Parole Support
- Assist operational teams with public protection queries.
- Collaborate on parole consideration processes for eligible prisoners.

Core Competencies
- Unwavering integrity and discretion when handling sensitive data.
- Organisational rigor with an eyes-for-detail approach—especially for interpreting prisoner records.
- Clear communication, adapting for forensic teams (e.g., police/detention staff), prisoner BLM form-fillers, and visitor/stakeholder interactions.
- Analytical ability to identify trends in correspondence/Behavioural Concerns Statements.
- Independence + team ethos: Ability to work autonomously while contributing to cross-department collaboration.
Essential Experience
- Any administrative experience where confidentiality and structured record-keeping are priority (e.g., legal, social work, military, compliant health services).
- Experience with secure data systems or restricted third-party interactions is an asset.
Friends of four familiar with secure environments – or ability to quickly learn. Experience will be provided.

- Enhanced DBS checks with a related vulnerabilities filter

- Occupational health checks
🚩 Note:
- This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
