PR Assistant

Professional Membership Body, Central London, Permanent, hybrid, £28,000-£32,000

About the Role

International Membership Organisation, based in Central London is looking for a PR Assistant in their Press Office and reporting to the Communications Director. This is a key role in which you will assist with promoting globally the work of the organisation and assist with the protection of their reputation. A great career step if you have a passion for Human Rights, International Affairs and have a real talent for writing.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and editing news releases and other communication materials
  • Uploading news releases to mailing distribution systems (SAP and Mailchimp)
  • Daily updating of social media platforms (X, Facebook and LinkedIn) and monitoring social media channels for any emerging issues
  • Liaising with colleagues to update website pages with Press Office news releases
  • Building and maintaining media and stakeholder contact lists
  • Assisting with coordinating responses to media enquiries and preparing daily or weekly media monitoring reports and communication briefs
  • Attending meetings
  • Drafting copy and event invitations and liaising with colleagues for copy
  • Providing administrative support to communications - organising meetings, maintaining records, and preparing reports

Skills and Requirements

  • Drafting Press Releases
  • Posting on social media (including X and Facebook)
  • Impeccable written English with excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and highly organised and professional
  • Proficient in monitoring and utilising social media platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Basic graphic design skills using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools (such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or similar) to support content creation, research, communication planning, data analysis and administrative tasks
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Passionate about human rights issues and International current affairs
  • Strong research and information-gathering skills
  • Pays attention to detail and accuracy, and flexible with a willingness to learn
  • Works well in fast-paced environment, multi tasks under pressure
  • Happy to travel Internationally if required and also to work out of hours when required
  • Photography a video content creation skills would be useful as would 1–3 years' experience in public relations, communications, or corporate affairs (voluntary experience counts!); also some practical experience in a communications role, possibly related to Law
