We are looking for a Japanese-speaking Public Relations Manager to be based in London.

As a Public Relations Manager, you will play an important role in shaping how Yusen Logistics is seen around the world. Working closely with colleagues across regions and functions, you will help build our reputation, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and bring our story to life through engaging communications, media relations, and global initiatives that support our long-term growth. You will be a key member of Corporate Communications Team, Corporate Branding & Communications Group.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Communications Development

  • Develop and execute global PR strategies, communication plans, and messaging frameworks to enhance corporate reputation and brand visibility.
  • Identify, secure, and manage media opportunities while creating and localizing press releases and other external communication materials.
  • Drive executive visibility through thought leadership programs, speaking engagements, and media opportunities.
  • Lead public relations activities for major global initiatives, strategic projects, and corporate campaigns.

Press Relations (PR)

  • Identify and pursue media opportunities in trade and business publications.
  • Expand and maintain a strong network of journalists and drive proactive media relations to support business goals.
  • Identify speaking opportunities for senior executives at relevant conferences and trade shows.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop effective communication strategies that support business priorities and strengthen stakeholder understanding.
  • Support senior leaders with communication strategies and external positioning.
  • Partner with internal teams including Marketing, HR, Legal, and Operations.
  • Build and maintain productive partnerships with external agencies and communications partners.
  • Support internal communication initiatives that reinforce company culture and values.

Crisis communications

  • Develops and implements crisis communication strategies and protocols addressing key business & communication risks in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare official statements, position papers, media responses as a part of issue management, and crisis communications in consultation and corporate communication.

Measurement & Reporting

  • Track PR performance through media monitoring, coverage analysis and other metrics.
  • Produce regular reports highlighting communication outcomes and recommendations.
  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness and optimise future strategies.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, business or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Proven experience in public relations, project management, or marketing communication, preferably both in agency and in-house.
  • Experience working in the logistics industry or MNCs.
  • Experience of building a PR strategy in a global organisation (ideally with presence in Asia).
  • Experience in proactively seeking and securing premium media coverage.
  • Experience in community building.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilising data to gain insights on customer behaviour as well as developing, implementing, and tracking engagement/outcomes of multi-channel communications programs.
  • Strong creative and conceptual abilities (planning, analytical, creative, client and goal oriented).
  • Strong media relations and writing skills both in English and Japanese.
  • Sound project and event management skills (ability to set guidelines and deadlines, manage budgets).
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work across global markets.
  • Crisis communication and issues management expertise.
  • Knowledge of media monitoring and analytics platforms.
  • Comfortable working across teams, regions and cultures (flexibility to work around different time zones will be required).
