I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As a Rights of Way Officer, you will oversee a varied caseload in support of the Council’s responsibilities as Highway Authority. This will include investigating and resolving access issues, supporting the maintenance and improvement of the network, liaising with landowners, user groups, parish councils and local communities, and using legal enforcement powers to protect public access.

You will help ensure that public rights of way are safe, accessible and available for public use, while balancing the needs of land management, local communities, environmental considerations and statutory requirements. The role will involve site inspections, practical problem solving, negotiation, preparation of correspondence and reports, and working with colleagues across the wider Countryside Access service.

About you

We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and confident countryside access professional with proven experience of public rights of way management. You will be a proactive self-starter with strong organisational, communication and negotiation skills, able to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
