In Public Sector Assurance, we have worked on some of the UK's largest and most high-profile public-sector clients, with services ranging from being the number 1 provider of external audit with NHS and Local Government, financial reporting assurance and a range of grant services including compliance and assurance.

At their core, our work has focused on creating value across the whole of the UK focused on supporting the achievement of value for money, good governance and risk management and financial reporting that service users can rely on, evidencing service delivery. Help us to make a difference to our public sector clients supporting them to deliver modern public services that are sustainable, people-centred, data-driven and digitally enabled. Be part of an exciting client engagement team supporting across our sectors (Local government, Health, Central Government and arms-length bodies) and capabilities (financial reporting assurance services, grants administration, grants compliance, regaining assurance, audit readiness, financial management and delivery, financial planning, governance scrutiny and risk management, internal audit co-sourcing) developing analytical skills, insights and wider assurance expertise with each engagement Develop sector and technical knowledge and apply this in the context of real and complex client scenarios, bringing a unique perspective that is valued Be pivotal in the delivery of engagements with unparalleled insight into our clients’ challenges, regularly liaising with senior stakeholders within our clients Actively listen to others and ask searching questions that challenges thinking beyond immediate concerns and present innovative solutions Be asked to identify, suggest and drive practice development initiatives – be that internal business development, external marketing, or the continued improvement of our range of services to meet client needs – to ensure you are a key part of our growing practice Take personal responsibility and pride towards high quality of assigned deliverables, whilst demonstrating excellent time management and communication skills Contribute to positive morale, enthusiasm and entrepreneurial culture within the team Demonstrate understanding of services and capability of Public Sector Assurance and Public Sector Consulting as well as Grant Thornton in order to effectively support clients outside of your subject area Build a strong network of contacts, both within the firm, with partners and across the public sector

Knowing you’re right for us

Joining us as an Assistant Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

A professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA). Other professional qualifications will be considered if appropriate. Extensive experience of using Microsoft Office applications, in particular PowerPoint and Excel Excellent communication and presentation skills, including in a variety of different media
