Purchase Ledger Assistant – West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA)

Full time – Permanent EVH Grade 5 £31,792 – £35,332 per annum

Location: Glasgow-based (hybrid – mix of home and office working)

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, the Purchase Ledger Assistant will play a central role in ensuring financial operations run smoothly. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining accurate supplier records in the finance system.
  • Processing and paying invoices to suppliers on a timely basis.
  • Supporting the month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, and financial reconciliations.
  • Ensuring all purchase ledger tasks align with the set deadlines and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the seamless functioning of the finance team with a focus on Purchase Ledger Tasks.
  • Handling payouts, invoices, and reconciliations with due diligence to avoid financial discrepancies.
  • Providing robust supplier record management by updating account information and tracking payment activity.
  • Collaborating closely with finance colleagues to ensure accuracy and efficiency across all ledger tasks.
  • Adhering to deadlines for month-end activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and financial accuracy.

Requirements

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, ensuring their ability to prioritise tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced workplace.
  • A proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on Excel and Word, and the capability to assimilate quickly into new systems.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach, balanced with attention to detail.
  • Strong preference for candidates who have prior experience in purchase ledger roles or similar financial roles.
