Purchase Ledger Clerk

Purchase Ledger Assistant – Part-Time Temporary Role

Location: Swanwick – In office Contract length: 8–12 weeks Pay: £14–17 p/h (PAYE) Hours: Part-time (25 hours per week)

We are recruiting an experienced Purchase Ledger Assistant to provide immediate support during a busy period in a local, well-established business in Swanwick.

This is a fast-paced, temporary job suited for someone who can hit the ground running and confidently manage high-volume transactional workloads with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process high volumes of purchase invoices accurately, ensuring all transactions are recorded and maintained correctly.
  • Prepare and process payment runs, complete supplier statement reconciliations, and support bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate purchase ledger records, investigating and resolving invoice discrepancies.
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day banking transactions, managing employee expenses, and ensuring financial records remain up to date.
  • Provide ad hoc support with credit control and assist the wider finance team with various transactional finance duties as required.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a high-volume Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position.
  • Confident and experienced in processing:
    • Payment runs
    • Bank reconciliations
    • Balance reconciliations
    • Maintaining accurate financial transactions
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a high-pressure finance environment.
  • Availability at short notice and the ability to quickly integrate into an established finance team.
