Overview
We are looking for an experienced Python Automation Engineer to join a professional services team delivering enterprise data automation solutions for large-scale organisations.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing and building automation that streamlines data processing, sensitive data handling, and integration with enterprise data platforms. You'll work closely with architects, consultants, and customer stakeholders to deliver scalable, repeatable automation used across multiple client environments.
The role combines Python development, REST API integration, data engineering, and infrastructure automation within Agile delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop Python-based automation to process structured data from multiple enterprise sources.
- Build scalable workflows that identify, classify and process sensitive data based on configurable business rules.
- Design automation that integrates with enterprise data management platforms using REST APIs.
- Create and manage automated data processing jobs through API-driven orchestration.
- Develop reusable mapping and transformation logic for different data types and business requirements.
- Ensure automated processes maintain data consistency and integrity across complex datasets.
- Monitor automated workflows, implement robust error handling, logging and retry mechanisms.
- Generate reporting and validation outputs to support governance and compliance requirements.
- Support deployment of automation solutions across development, test and production environments.
- Produce technical documentation, operational runbooks and knowledge transfer materials.
- Work collaboratively within Agile delivery teams, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.

Required Skills
- Strong Python development experience with a focus on automation and integration.
- Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs, including authentication, session management and error handling.
- Strong SQL skills with experience working across relational database platforms.
- Experience building ETL, data engineering or automation pipelines.
- Experience working with enterprise data integration or data management platforms.
- Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
- CI/CD pipeline experience using GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar tooling.
- Working knowledge of data governance, privacy or PII handling.
- Experience working with JSON and YAML.
- Linux command line and Bash scripting.

Desirable Experience
- Data masking, test data management or data anonymisation solutions.
- Enterprise data integration platforms such as Informatica or comparable technologies.
- Experience working across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL or other enterprise databases.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industries.
- Client-facing consulting or professional services experience.
