Python + AWS Engineer - Remote, UK

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Python + AWS Engineer based in United Kingdom.

This role sits within a modern, fully remote engineering environment focused on building and delivering scalable backend services across distributed, international teams. You will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of cloud-native applications using Python and AWS, supporting business-critical systems and APIs. The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional and multicultural teams working on innovative, fast-evolving digital products. You will help ensure system reliability, performance, and security while contributing to API design and backend architecture decisions. The environment is highly collaborative, outcome-driven, and built for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges. Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Python, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Build and deploy cloud-based solutions on AWS, leveraging services for compute, storage, networking, and serverless architectures.
  • Design and document APIs using OpenAPI specifications while ensuring strong API security and adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver features in an agile, iterative development environment.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and security.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions to ensure engineering quality and consistency.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional experience in backend development using Python and/or Java.
  • Strong hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services and building cloud-native applications.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, OpenAPI specifications, and API security principles.
  • Experience building, deploying, and maintaining scalable backend systems in production environments.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and working in remote, multicultural, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug, optimize, and improve complex systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
