About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Python Fast API Developer to join our dynamic team onsite in Bristol, working 2 to 3 days per week. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend applications and services. Your primary focus will be on creating scalable REST APIs using FastAPI, ensuring secure and efficient data transactions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, QA engineers, and system architects, to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Python development, experience with REST API design, and familiarity with lightweight relational databases such as SQLite. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects within a supportive environment that values technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in backend development with Python, complemented by proven experience in building REST APIs using FastAPI. Proficiency with Pydantic for data modeling and schema validation is essential, along with hands-on experience working with SQLite or similar lightweight relational databases. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of software testing practices, including unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and resilience testing. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write clean, maintainable, well-structured code are critical. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within diverse teams are also required. Additional qualifications include familiarity with integration of backend services with other systems and APIs, exposure to DevOps practices related to versioning and release management, and knowledge of performance optimization techniques for backend systems.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop Python-based applications and backend services aligned with project requirements.
- Build, document, and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable integrations.
- Develop and support backend systems that facilitate application functionality and data workflows.
- Streamline versioning, release, and packaging processes to enable efficient deployment pipelines.
- Establish comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and resilience testing.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability across the backend stack.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to development standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to refine requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver features on time.
