Senior Python Developer
Reading / Hybrid £60,000 - £80,000 + benefits Sector: LegalTech / IP Management SaaS
We are working with a growing business in the LegalTech space that is investing in its engineering capability following a recent acquisition.
They are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join a collaborative product engineering team and play a key role in both platform integration and technical upskilling.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on software engineering with mentoring, coaching and raising standards across a team. The environment would suit a senior engineer who likes solving real product problems, improving delivery quality and helping others develop confidence in Python and Django.
The role
- Build and maintain product features using Python, Django and, where relevant, React
- Support the integration of acquired platform capability into a broader product estate
- Mentor engineers through pairing, code review and practical technical guidance
- Help improve engineering standards across code quality, testing and delivery practices
- Work closely with product and design to turn requirements into well-scoped, well-built features

What they are looking for
- Strong commercial experience building production systems with Python and Django
- A genuine interest in coaching and developing other engineers
- Strong relational database skills, including schema design, queries, migrations and ORM usage
- Good experience with testing, version control, CI/CD and agile delivery
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to influence engineering standards in a positive, collaborative way

Nice to have
- Exposure to React or broader full-stack delivery
- Experience helping a team move into a new language, framework or engineering approach
- Cloud and tooling exposure such as Azure, AWS, Terraform, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch or analytics/reporting tools
