About The Role
The Python Fast API Developer role at TEKsystems is an exciting opportunity for a skilled backend developer to contribute to high-impact projects within an innovative environment. Based in Bristol, the position involves onsite collaboration two to three days a week, offering a dynamic mix of remote and in-person work. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend applications and RESTful APIs using FastAPI. This role requires a deep understanding of Python development, schema validation with Pydantic, and lightweight data storage solutions with SQLite. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient backend services that support complex application workflows, ensuring high standards of code quality and performance.

Qualifications
- Strong experience in backend development with Python
- Expertise in REST API design and implementation
- Proven experience working with FastAPI and Pydantic for data modeling and validation
- Familiarity with SQLite or similar lightweight relational databases
- Solid understanding of software testing practices including unit, integration, and performance testing
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Effective communication skills to collaborate within diverse teams
- Experience with system integration
- DevOps practices related to versioning and release management
- Scalability techniques for backend systems
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Python-based backend applications and services that are scalable and maintainable.
- Build, document, and maintain REST APIs using FastAPI, ensuring secure and reliable integrations with other systems.
- Develop and support backend systems that facilitate application functionality and data workflows.
- Streamline deployment processes through effective versioning, release management, and packaging strategies.
- Establish and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and resilience testing.
- Write clean, well-structured, and thoroughly tested code adhering to best practices and development standards.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability across the backend stack.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to established standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to refine requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver features on schedule.
