About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer / Backend Software Engineer to join our client's dynamic Research & Development team in Cambridge. This pivotal role involves working on cutting-edge cybersecurity products designed to counteract AI-based security threats. As part of this innovative environment, you will contribute to the development of a new Greenfield project, focusing on rapid prototyping, structured development, and continuous improvement of complex security platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating solutions that protect clients globally from sophisticated cyber threats using advanced AI and emerging technologies.

The position offers a hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work from the Cambridge office twice a week, fostering a vibrant team atmosphere. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in software engineering, with specific expertise in backend development using Python. A degree in a STEM discipline is essential, demonstrating a solid academic background in relevant fields. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable, along with familiarity with Rust, TypeScript, and C++. Candidates should demonstrate advanced problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and a passion for learning new technologies. Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, testing, and continuous integration, is required to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems primarily using Python, with occasional use of Rust, TypeScript, or C++ for performance-critical components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prototype and develop innovative cybersecurity solutions aimed at countering AI-driven threats.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices and high standards of code quality.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Engage in problem-solving sessions to address complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative approaches into project development.
  • Support the deployment and integration of new products and features within cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Assist in documenting technical specifications and user manuals to facilitate knowledge sharing and future development efforts.
