Python Developer – Trading Systems

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £120,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

We're partnering with a leading global financial technology firm seeking a talented Python Developer to join its Middle Office Engineering team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-performance trading infrastructure, building the systems that power trade reconciliation, back-testing frameworks, and real-time trading monitoring. You'll collaborate closely with infrastructure, quantitative research, and treasury teams, solving complex engineering challenges in a low-latency, data-intensive environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop robust, production-quality Python applications for business-critical trading systems
  • Build tools and services that process large volumes of financial data
  • Improve software performance, scalability, and throughput
  • Design and implement new features across trade reconciliation, monitoring, and analytics platforms
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and quantitative research teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions
  • Contribute to automated testing and continuous improvement of the development lifecycle.

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial Python development experience
  • Excellent knowledge of NumPy, Pandas, and SQL
  • Experience writing automated tests for Python applications
  • Ability to design clean, maintainable, and well-documented software
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating within highly technical teams

Desirable experience includes:

  • Test-driven development using pytest
  • Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools
  • Polars
  • CI pipelines (Jenkins or similar)
  • WebSocket or TCP/IP networking
  • pybind/nanobind
  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM discipline.
