Contract Python Developer (Python Primary / C# Secondary) – Investment Management
Location: London (2–3 days per week onsite)
Contract: Initial 12 months (with a strong likelihood of extending to 2–3 years)
We’re supporting a leading buy-side Investment Management client on a long-term technology transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Python Developer to join an established engineering team.
About the Role
This role is best suited to someone with a strong Python background who has worked within Financial Services and is comfortable supporting and maintaining applications built in both Python and C#/.NET. This is not a pure.NET role—Python is the primary technology.
Requirements
Please only apply if you meet the following criteria:
- Strong commercial experience developing applications in Python (this is the primary requirement)
- Experience working with C#/.NET in a commercial environment (you do not need to be a.NET expert but should be confident maintaining and debugging existing.NET applications)
- Strong SQL skills, including writing and optimising complex queries and working with relational databases
- Previous experience working within Financial Services (Investment Management, Asset Management, Hedge Fund, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets)
- Happy to work 2–3 days per week onsite in London
- Available for a long-term contract engagement

Highly Desirable Experience
- Investment or Asset Management
- Trading platforms or front-office technology
- OMS/EMS platforms (particularly Charles River)
- Databricks
- API development and system integration
- Market data or trading workflow experience
- Azure data platforms

The Role
You’ll work within an established technology team delivering strategic solutions across the client’s investment platform. The work includes:
- Developing and enhancing Python applications
- Integrating trading and data platforms
- Maintaining supporting.NET services
- Collaborating with technology teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, communicates well with both technical and business teams, and is looking for a long-term contract rather than a short-term assignment.

This role is not suitable for:
- Developers without commercial Financial Services experience.
- Pure.NET/C# developers with limited Python exposure.
- Data Scientists or Data Analysts without software engineering experience.
- Candidates requiring a fully remote role.
