Python / Azure Developer
- Rate: £550 per day (Inside IR35)
- Contract: Initial 6-month contract
- Start: ASAP
- Location: Remote with occasional travel (~1 day/month, alternating Leeds and London)
About the Role
We are hiring an experienced Python / Azure Developer to deliver cloud-native applications and data solutions within a highly regulated public sector digital programme.
This role requires NHS, healthcare sector, or UK Government experience and offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications on Microsoft Azure
- Build and support cloud-native services, APIs, and data processing solutions
- Develop scalable, secure solutions adhering to public sector best practices
- Collaborate with architects, product teams, business analysts, and stakeholders
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure improvements
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimise system performance
- Ensure security, governance, and compliance requirements are met
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and technical design discussions

Essential Skills & Experience
- Advanced Python development experience for commercial applications
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure
- Experience building/consuming REST APIs and microservices
- Deep understanding of cloud architecture and Azure services
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of Git and modern SWE best practices
- Prior work in NHS, Healthcare, Government, or Public Sector environments

Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with:
- Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid
- Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates)
- Data engineering or analytics background
- Knowledge of NHS standards, governance, and security frameworks
- Experience on large-scale digital transformation programmes

- Willingness to attend in-person meetings (~1x/month, alternating Leeds or London)
