Python / Azure Developer

  • Rate: £550 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Contract: Initial 6-month contract
  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Remote with occasional travel (~1 day/month, alternating Leeds and London)

About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Python / Azure Developer to deliver cloud-native applications and data solutions within a highly regulated public sector digital programme.

This role requires NHS, healthcare sector, or UK Government experience and offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale digital transformation initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications on Microsoft Azure
  • Build and support cloud-native services, APIs, and data processing solutions
  • Develop scalable, secure solutions adhering to public sector best practices
  • Collaborate with architects, product teams, business analysts, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure improvements
  • Troubleshoot production issues and optimise system performance
  • Ensure security, governance, and compliance requirements are met
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and technical design discussions

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Advanced Python development experience for commercial applications
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure
  • Experience building/consuming REST APIs and microservices
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture and Azure services
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of Git and modern SWE best practices
  • Prior work in NHS, Healthcare, Government, or Public Sector environments

Desirable Experience

  • Familiarity with:
    • Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid
    • Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates)
  • Data engineering or analytics background
  • Knowledge of NHS standards, governance, and security frameworks
  • Experience on large-scale digital transformation programmes

  • NHS, Healthcare, or Government/Public Sector expertise (essential)
  • Available to start immediately
  • Willingness to attend in-person meetings (~1x/month, alternating Leeds or London)
