We are seeking a Senior/Lead Python Engineer specializing in the development and maintenance of high-performance, scalable applications within a global banking technology environment. This role focuses on enhancing VAT recovery, improving regulatory reporting, and implementing AI-driven solutions, delivering tangible savings and ensuring compliance across the organization.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Python-based applications with clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
- Work with large SQL databases to design schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity.
- Manage and deploy applications in Linux environments, including scripting and automation.
- Utilize GIT for version control, including branching, merging, and code reviews.
- Work within Agile workflows to manage tasks, sprints, and project tracking.
- Develop and maintain job scheduling workflows using Autosys.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and system issues.
- Mentor junior developers and lead the adoption of coding best practices and emerging technologies.
- Analyze data to support reporting, analytics, and system improvements.

Key Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in Python development with expertise in OOP and software design principles.
- Strong SQL skills for complex queries and database optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Linux environments (bash scripting and deployment).
- Experience with Autosys for job scheduling.
- Proficiency in GIT, including branching strategies, code versioning, and pull requests.
- Experience with Agile project management tools, preferably JIRA.
- Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), and Unit Testing (PyTest).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and lead technical teams effectively.
- Prior experience in a banking or financial services context.
- Fluent in English.
